HIMANYC  Health Information Management Association of New York City

President's Message

When we look at the Association from its inception in 1928 to the present, we cannot help but notice that education and growth in membership have remained as two key goals.  The only thing that has changed is the approaches the leadership has taken to achieve these goals.  It has been said, “A key responsibility of HIMANYC’s leadership is to be at the vanguard of the changes which impact our Association and the myriad places where we exercise our professional expertise.”

Although the bar has been set high by my predecessors, I pledge to continue to work with your Executive Council to:

1)         Develop and present educational programs that will lead to the acquisition of new skill sets while expanding the familiar skill sets;

2)         Continue the efforts to inspire membership growth; (It’s a trite saying, but nonetheless it is true “…There is indeed strength in numbers.”)

3)         Foster the proactive stance of “lifelong learning” as we prepare ourselves for the new challenges;

4)         Promote the benefits that accrue to strong organizations.

The value, power and strength of this Association rest in the ongoing involvement of its members. I challenge you to join us—the Executive Council, your colleagues—as we continue to invest our efforts in keeping our professional Association strong and vital.

I am looking forward to this opportunity to serve you as President of HIMANYC.

Anne Matterson, RHIA
